On Saturday, January 29th at Gulfstream Park, the Pegasus World Cup, the biggest handicap-division race of the year, took place. The race was held in Hallandale Beach, Florida and featured some of the best dirt horses in North America competing for a $3 million purse. The event attracted a record-setting audience of 18,000 fans to the venue.
With such a large number of guests in attendance, Gulfstream Park had to enhance its event security operations to ensure the event would be safe for everyone in attendance. The SecurEvent Solutions team worked in unison with the facility to design and deploy enhanced security operations that resulted in efficient security without compromising the overall guest experience.
Reducing Labor

OPENGATE® was implemented at the Pegasus Cup to quickly detect mass casualty metal threats (guns, knives & IED materials) without delaying guests in entry points.
By implementing SecurEvent Solutions technology solutions, such as the OPENGATE® Advanced Weapons Detection units, the team was able to reduce the amount of screening staff required at the event by 69%. This reduction in required screening staff reduced costs while also reducing time required for set up and tear down of screening equipment.
